Today marks an important day for The Saxton Group as we welcome a new McAlister’s Deli to our restaurant family. McAlister’s Deli — Addison, TX is conveniently located off Beltline road just east of the tollway. This is The Saxton Group’s 28th McAlister’s Deli location.
While it is new to us, this location has actually been operating for five years under the management of another McAlister’s Deli franchisee. By acquiring the restaurant location The Saxton Group hopes to bring Addison customers the same high quality experience found at all of our McAlister’s locations in the state.
McAlister’s Deli — Addison, TX will be closed this week while we retrain the staff and add new equipment to the kitchen. We’re thrilled to promote Chris Fahrney to General Manager. Chris has been an Assistant Manager in several Saxton Group McAlister’s locations and is enthusiastic about helping bringing our service culture to Addison. Our Grand Reopening is Friday March 2nd.

This week is John Williams’ last week as General Manager of McAlister’s Deli of Longview, also known as the first ever Tea Town USA. John is one of our veteran managers and has seen us build the McAlister’s brand from the very beginning in Texas. His store, Longview, in many ways represents the heart of our company culture; the way that restaurant relates to the city of Longview and the way the city has embraced McAlister’s is a model that we try to duplicate in communities across Texas. Much of that relationship has been cultivated by John’s nearly 11 years at McAlister’s in Longview and for that The Saxton Group will forever be grateful. John has done many things during his time at McAlister’s but perhaps the best thing he has done is been such a great leader to the hundreds of employees who have worked for him during his time there. Everybody loves John. He’s the kind of boss everybody wishes for. His team is better for having worked beside him. The young people who have come and worked for McAlister’s in Longview over the years are better because they saw in John such a great example of the enduring power of a positive attitude.
After 28 years in restaurant management John is leaving to pursue his next opportunity in life and we are the first to wish him all the success in the world.
John summed it up best on his Facebook page this morning and I know he won’t mind me sharing it here. Here’s the last word from John himself:
“My time at McAlisters has been awesome and I have many to thank for that. 1st I would like to thank Kelly Saxton and his family for the opportunity to work for them, they have been great owners. I can not express in words the admiration for the president of our company, Kirk Lanier who hired me back in the spring of 2001. I have learned so much from him that I have applied both professionally and personally. Stephen Lee from the days when you taught me how to make sandwiches to now as your role as regional director, thank you for everything, your advice and friendship will never be forgotten. The list could go on and on from Phillip at our home office, to the technical support guys to all the other GM’s that i have worked with over the years. Closer to home I have to thank all the staff that I have had the pleasure to work with during my time at the restaurant. You have made my time at the deli the best it could be and the friendships that we have developed will last forever. Of course I have to mention the hundreds of loyal customers that i have met over the years. It has been my pleasure serving you and hopefully we can stay in touch after I leave.”
Stay in touch John. Come by for a glass of Sweet Tea. Don’t be a stranger. Most of all, best wishes to you and your family on your next chapter. As for John’s loyal customers in Longview, your hometown deli looks forward to continuing to provide you the warm smiles, great food, and welcoming atmosphere you have come to know and love. We thank the town of Longview for your continued support.
